At 07:00pm, gather with your family on Pollination Street, for the start of a Summer Solstice Celebration. Bring a picnic, wear something yellow or orange 

Where something yellow or orange to say goodbye to the summer sun – and an animal or sun mask too, if you like.

Oakenhoof Cloggers and the 3 Valleys Gospel Choir will lead us to the grounds of the Unitarian Church. There you can take part in a special ceremony for the summer solstice before sitting with your picnic in the evening sun.

Meet at 21.00 at the bottom of the Calderdale Way, opposite Lumbutts chapel. Go early on the T6 or T8 bus, 13 minutes past the hour from Todmorden Bus Station, and visit the Top Brink Inn or the Incredible Farm. 

At 7:30pm, the Philosophy Walk, culminating in Philosophy in the Pub, will be leaving from the Unitarian Church door. Join it for a memorable evening of talking and walking!

Join us on a philosophical walk. We’ll be talking as we walk about philosophy – the philosophy of walking, and of what it means to do things together. Practising philosophers from the University of Manchester are joining us for the walk, and a drink together afterwards in The Pub.

Sturdy shoes and a warm/waterproof outer garment recommended.

Route: uphill to Longfield Equestrian Centre and Long Hey Lane, then left along the Calderdale Way (Lumbutts Road if very wet), returning down through the woods to Oldroyd, and past Trigger’s grave, finally along the canal towpath to The Pub, Brook Street, Todmorden

It now boasts not only raised beds, allotments and polytunnels but also has a self-build round house, apiary, chickens, pond, and pizza oven. There is a disabled access eco-loo and parking. All this in a delightful canal side setting.

Join a guided tour of the site and learn about the vision and challenges of the venture.

This event is for anyone and everyone.

It is all totally free of charge and is a great opportunity to trial and find out about new therapies, life balancing techniques, wellbeing exercises and hearing new ideas to be able to adopt a healthier lifestyle and discover ways to connect at a deeper level with your inner self.
The focus is to look after ourselves inside and out, mentally and physically. To be more in tune with our everyday environment in the most positive way possible and become more mindful of other people and the lives surrounding us.

It promises to be very interesting and varied with lots of things to get involved in.
There will be lots going on throughout the day.
There are numerous well-being practitioners, various alternative therapies, natural therapies, natural product businesses and wellbeing charities who are all participating.
So there will be many free little mini taster treatments, reflexology, massage, free physio to determine problems and diagnosis, natural beauticians and also various information stands.

Interactive events, activities and talks are scheduled, with many that the public can get involved in if they wish.
These include demonstrations ranging from Tai Chi, Pilates, Sports stretching exercises , reflexology, yoga and a 20 minute Buddhist Guided Meditation session.
There will be a short inspirational video presentation from Words of Peace, showing the teachings of world renowned Prem Rawat who talks about peace being available to all and who offers the possibility to help you connect with your inner self.
Healthy Minds who deal with depression and suicide will also be available and will be doing an interactive workshop.
There will also be a talk by 3 Valley Vegans offering an insight into why increasingly more people are adopting this lifestyle and what impact it can have on you, animals and the environment.

There will also be a delicious cafe on site selling drinks and refreshments throughout the day.

Celebrating its 11th year,  Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade is an annual celebration of funkiness and is just a lot of fun! This extraordinary spectacle of 1000 people dancing down the streets wearing hand made costumes to killer street bands alongside giant handmade puppets. Seriously, you don’t want to miss this.

The parade will set off at 12 noon from the Handmade Parade workshops on Victoria Road and heads towards Calder Holmes Park, where there will be a mini festival of live music, dance, street theatre and picnic in the park with fabulous food stalls from local vendors.http://handmadeparade.co.uk/
